Hair loss will cycle. It cycles even in healthy people and is more
pronounced in those of us with FMS because our bodies cannot make healthy hair as well. There is nothing in guaifenesin that causes hair loss, it is the FMS. So it improves over time as your other symptoms do.
That said, remember hair loss is hereditary. If your mother and members of your family have thinning hair as they age you might have inherited that trait and so no guai can turn that around for you. The first gene for hair loss was identified on the X chromosome, although there are certainly many others. This means if you are a male your mother's side of the family is where your gene comes from but if you are female it could be either parent.
